Gene A Ninnemann

Gene A. Ninnemann, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on March 2, 1932, in Mitchell, South Dakota, Gene was the beloved son of Walter and Selma Odifey Ninnemann. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Joyce, sister Charlene, and parents, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Gene's life was marked by a steadfast dedication to his family, country, and faith. He is survived by his children: Trudy A. Peirce, Thad A. Ninnemann, Tanya A. Keeling, and Todd A. Ninnemann, as well as his seven grandchildren: Matthew, Chelsea, Rachel, Andy, Alaine, Nathan, and Renee, who were the pride and joy of his life. Also surviving is his Godchild Julie Sue Sebastian. A man of remarkable intellect and drive, Gene graduated from Platte High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University and a Master of Science in Aerospace Management from the University of Southern California. His career began as a highway bridge designer for the State of Iowa before he served in the United States Air Force. As an Air Force civilian employee, Gene played a pivotal role in the Minuteman Missile Program, and his strategic planning supported crucial weapon system programs across the Army and Navy. He retired as the Technical Director for environmental management programs at Air Force Command, leaving a lasting impact on national defense and environmental stewardship. Gene found great joy in music, a passion that began with piano lessons at the age of seven and blossomed into a lifelong love. He shared his musical talents through church choirs, high school and college bands, and eventually, barbershop quartets, where he sang both baritone and bass. His love for music was rivaled only by his enthusiasm for hunting and sports. A man of deep faith, Gene was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairborn, Ohio. His unwavering Christian beliefs guided his actions and were evident in the kindness and generosity he showed to others. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Gene had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His desire to share his faith and humor touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him. A service to celebrate Gene's life will be held on August 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located at 1240 South Maple Avenue, Fairborn, Ohio 45324. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran School Endowment Fund for student assistance, honoring Gene's commitment to education and community. Interment in Platte City Cemetery, Platte, South Dakota. Gene A. Ninnemann will be dearly missed, but his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
