Gaylon Louis Alston

Gaylon Louis Alston, a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved friend, passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on July 13, 1945, in Ripley, Tennessee, Gaylon's life was a testament to dedication, love, and service, both to his family and his community. The son of the late Bonnie Garvin and Luna May (Manuel) Alston, Gaylon was raised with the values of hard work and compassion which he carried throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a commitment that left an indelible mark on his character. Following his military service, Gaylon embraced a career as a truck driver, a profession that allowed him to see much of the country he loved. Alongside his professional endeavors, he was a lifelong musician, his true passion. With music as his constant companion, Gaylon brought joy and comfort to many through his performances. He was also an avid gardener, finding peace and satisfaction in nurturing the earth. A member of the Trinity Community Church in Nutbush, Tennessee, and a retired member of the Teamsters Union, Gaylon was deeply embedded in his community, fostering connections that enriched both his life and the lives of those around him. Gaylon was predeceased by his parents, his son Robert "Bobby" Alston, his sisters Hazel Trosper, Rebecca Suttles, and Diane Barcroft, and his brothers Bobby and Steve Alston. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Stanley Alston, of Halls, Tennessee; his daughters, Melainia Dukes-Brown of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Smmer Willis of Halls, Tennessee; his sons, Troy Alston, Brad Alston, and Jason Dukes, all of Halls, Tennessee; as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for him. The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Gaylon's life on September 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Edith Cemetery, located at 7349 Edith-Nankipoo Rd., Ripley, TN 38063. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Gaylon's memory may consider a donation to a charity of their choice. Gaylon Louis Alston's life was a melody of love, laughter, and dedication. His legacy will resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
