Born in Aledo, Texas, on July 18, 1941, Gayle was a beloved daughter of Ray and Clara Whisenant, who predeceased her, along with her brother David Whisenant and nephew Clay Clark. Marlene grew up in Aledo, where she cultivated a lifelong love for family and community. She graduated from Aledo High School, where she forged friendships that lasted her entire life. Her spirit was one of kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Marlene's life was enriched by the love of two remarkable men. She was first married to James Sharpe, with whom she shared the joy of two children, Terri Webb and Bryan Sharpe. Her children were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. In 1990, Gayle found love again with Wayne Hoover, and together they built a life filled with laughter and shared dreams. She was a devoted and beloved mother to her daughter Terri Webb and her husband Terry, and her son Bryan Sharpe and his wife Dena. Marlene's legacy continues through her cherished granddaughter, Amanda Sharpe, who was the light of her life. Gayle also leaves behind her two sisters, Sonja Spain and Neysa Clark, and her brother, Steve Whisenant, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were touched by her generous spirit. Marlene found joy in the simplest of pleasures, such as playing Bingo with friends and family. These gatherings were not just games to her; they were opportunities to connect, laugh, and celebrate life. Her love for her family was boundless, and she treasured each moment spent in their company. A service honoring Marlene's beautiful life will be held on August 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Annetta Cemetery. As we gather to celebrate her life, we remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Marlene's memory.
