Gavin Nicholson

Gavin Nicholson, a cherished soul who touched the lives of many, passed peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 68, at the Myrtle's Nursing Center after valiantly battling dementia. Born on December 28, 1957, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Gavin was the beloved son of the late Gavin Nicholson and Nancy Yancey. He was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Amanda Stogner Milian, his sons Billy Stogner and Randal Blansett, his brothers Paul, Eugene, Douglas, and Johnny Nicholson, and his sister Patricia Nicholson. His granddaughter Abby Whitehead also preceded him in death. Gavin is survived by his devoted children, Trista Ward (Scott), Phillip Nicholson (Shannon), Josh Whitehead, and Denny Jr Nicholson, as well as his brother Timothy Nicholson. His legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory. Throughout his life, Gavin was a dedicated and hardworking individual, exemplified by his years of service at MDR. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and hunting, and he cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Gavin had an exceptional ability to make people smile, a quality that endeared him to everyone he met. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gavin's life on July 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Turnage Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, located at 483 Turnage Chapel Road, Foxworth, MS 39483. It will be a time to honor the remarkable man who brought so much joy and warmth to those around him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Myrtle’s Nursing Center for the compassionate care and dedication given to Gavin during his final days. Gavin Nicholson’s gentle spirit, love for his family, and his ability to spread joy will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
