Gathel Jordan, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, at Hill Crest Health Center after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Bergoo, Webster County, West Virginia. Gathel lived a life marked by strength, spirit, and an unparalleled love for her family and community. Gathel was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter Jordan, a proud Army veteran, and her cherished sons, Ronnie Garvin and Dennie Garvin. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers: Clarence (Helen) Louk, Lawrence (Betty) Louk, Franklin Louk, and Benson Louk, who passed away in infancy. She also was preceded in death by her seven sisters: Virginia Louk, Ruth (Richard) Malcomb, Edith (Henry) Moore, Evelyn (Leon) Villers, Hazell (Don) Cornell, Eleanor (Bill) Moyers, and Elva Louk, who also passed in infancy. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her daughter-in-law, Sue Garvin, and grandchildren: Tesha Garvin and Mikel Garvin. Gathel's heart was also held by many nieces, nephews, and close friends, especially those she cherished during her time at Hill Crest. Her special niece and nephew, Brenda and Emery Lovejoy, along with their beloved dog, Jett, were particularly dear to her and brought immense joy to her life. All those who survive her will carry her memory in their hearts and miss her deeply. She will be remembered for her adventurous, loving, and generous spirit, along with her finding great joy being with her church family at Sunrise Temple Baptist Church in Ona. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done, playing games, and spending time with Jett, who was always a source of comfort and happiness. A funeral service to celebrate Gathel's remarkable life will be held on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane, West Virginia with visitation beginning at noon. Burial and graveside service at Valley View Memorial Park in Hurricane, WV at 2:00 PM. Services and eulogy will be lead graciously by her pastor, Mark Finley. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a woman who touched so many lives with her love and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Gathel's generous spirit and her commitment to helping others. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those staff members at Hill Crest that provided compassionate care during Gathel's stay. Also, gratitude for the support and palliative care provided by the Hospice staff members in caring for Gathel. The kindness and support Hill Crest and Hospice staff have shown has left a lasting impression on our hearts. May Gathel Jordan rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave and the cherished memories she leaves behind.
