Gary Todd

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Gary Todd, who left this world peacefully on March 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with multiple health issues. Gary was born on April 22, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to Wallace Todd and Regina Cline. His life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and unwavering faith. Gary was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce Hawkins, and is survived by a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughter Cynthia (Todd) Armstrong, son in law Phillip Armstrong Jr. five grandchildren—Rico Stewart, Zaina (Stewart) Lara Rosas, Ralph Aiken, Xavier Armstrong, and Octavia Armstrong—and three great-grandchildren—Kymani Holmes, Kiyan Holmes, and Ryder Aiken. He also leaves behind his devoted sister Joyce Kalisse, brother Glen Chowning, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by his generosity of spirit. Gary graduated from La Puente High School in 1958, and he embraced life with a determination to work hard and provide for his family. He wore many hats throughout his career, working as a truck driver and loading hay, but his talents extended far beyond that. A gifted mechanic, Gary could fix just about anything, and he took immense pride in his ability to find solutions where others could not. His love for life was evident in his hobbies and interests, which included working in his "man cave" shop, motors, old cars, house projects, gardening, farming, fishing, traveling, and hunting. Above all, Gary was a passionate evangelist, dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. In his later years, he was often seen in Port Townsend, holding up large Jesus signs with friends or participating in parades with a 26-foot banner displaying the Ten Commandments. Gary was an extraordinary storyteller. His tales could warm your heart or bring you to tears with laughter. His kindness and caring nature were evident to all who met him, and his hope and dedication to saving souls for Christ Jesus were unwavering. A service in honor of Gary's life will be held on August 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Northwest Maritime Center, located at 431 Water St. in Port Townsend, WA 98368. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to lifelong friend and brother Glen Chowning for his unwavering love and support of Gary in his final years. Without you, the precious time spent with him would not have been possible. Special thanks are also offered to Pastor Micah and his church for assisting Gary in his move to Spokane. To Gary's close and dearest friends, Dennis, Raven, and others not mentioned here, thank you for your companionship and care following the loss of his wife. A particular note of gratitude goes to James, whom Gary considered a "son," for the support and love you provided over the years. He loved you dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary's memory may be made to a charity of your choice, honoring his commitment to helping others and spreading love and kindness. Gary Todd's life was a testament to faith, family, and friendship. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
