Gary Reynolds

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Reynolds, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on August 17, 2026. Born on August 5, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, Gary was a beacon of joy and laughter, whose presence will be dearly missed by all who knew. Gary was the cherished son of the late Oscar Reynolds and Shirley Scott, and the loving grandson of the late Mattie Bea and Bennie Ellis. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Charles, Clarence, and Gerald Reynolds. His life was a testament to the power of love and friendship, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and humor. Gary attended St. Louis public Schools, had training for Tree Topping in San Francisco, and trained for Truck Driving. In his early twenties, Gary ventured to San Francisco, California, where he embarked on a career as a tree topper. It was during this time that he welcomed his daughter, Tiana Reynolds, whom he affectionately called "Baby Shamrock." Later, Gary returned to his roots in St. Louis and transitioned to a career as a truck driver. It was here that he met the love of his life, Crystal C. Jones. Their friendship blossomed into a beautiful marriage that spanned 36 years, filled with love, laughter, and unyielding support. Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Crystal C. Reynolds; his loving sister, Joann P. Elliott; and his brother, Daryl Reynolds. He was a proud father to his daughter, Tiana Reynolds, and a doting grandfather to Sierra Simmons. Gary also leaves behind his adopted sister, Betty Buckingham, his adopted brother, Tony Spears, and his dear friend, Sarah Hikes. His family extends to his eight sisters-in-laws : Candace, Chandra, Charlotte, Carla, Caren, Cathy, Colette, and Cecilia—and his brother-in-law, Clifford, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and loved ones. Gary's infectious humor and jovial spirit made him the life of any gathering. He was a jokester at heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. To know Gary was to love him; his unparalleled personality and generous spirit will never be forgotten. A celebration of Gary's life is held today, on September 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, located at 6905 St Louis Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63121. A repass will follow immediately after the service. The Reynolds family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.
