Gary Pearson

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Gary Pearson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed this world on March 13, 2026, at the age of 78. Gary left us while surrounded by the comfort of his home in the loving embrace of his family, concluding a life characterized by warmth, kindness, and devotion. Gary was born on September 18, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to a world that would be made brighter by his presence. From a young age, he exemplified the values of hard work, dedication, and compassion—qualities that he carried with him throughout his life. In 1967, Gary answered the call to serve his country, joining the Air National Guard where he served with honor until 1971. On October 5, 1968, Gary married the love of his life, Lynda Tappenden. Their union of over 57 years was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and mutual respect. Together, they built a family that was the very essence of Gary's joy and pride. He is survived by his beloved wife Lynda, his children Tim Pearson (Melissa), Tara Maurer (Kevin), and Adam Pearson (Cheyenne). Gary's legacy is further carried by his grandchildren Taylin, Kaden, Blake, Kyler, Karsen, James, Lane, Noah, Ethan, Luke, Addison, Mylee, Emmalyn, Huntleigh, Roan, Lynx, Woodlynne, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth and River. Gary's career was as diverse as it was fulfilling. He worked various jobs throughout his life, culminating in a rewarding role as a bus driver for Quincy Community Schools. It was here that Gary found immense joy in interacting with students and supporting their journeys, often driving them to school sporting events where he would joyfully cheer them on. Outside of work, Gary was a man of many passions. He found peace and creativity in fishing, gardening, and crafting intricate woodworking projects. Yet, perhaps his greatest pleasures were found in the simple joys of life—attending the myriad of sporting events and activities that his grandchildren participated in. Gary was their biggest fan, and his presence was a constant source of encouragement and love. The family will honor Gary's wishes with a private ceremony, cherishing the memories of a life well-lived. They extend their deepest gratitude to Hospice of Hillsdale County, whose care, compassion, and unending love provided solace during Gary's final days. In the words of the family, "They are truly beautiful people." As we reflect on Gary's life, we remember a man whose legacy of love, resilience, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains with us, guiding and inspiring us to live with the compassion and joy that he so effortlessly embodied. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memories of Gary be cherished, and his life celebrated by those who knew him. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
