Gary Paul Farmer

October 4, 1978 — May 6, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Paul Farmer, a beloved soul whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. Born on October 4, 1978, in East Point, Georgia, Gary departed this world on May 6, 2026, following a tragic accident at work. He was 47 years old. Gary was the cherished son of the late Dino B. Farmer and Janet R. Odum. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Marilyn Odum, his paternal grandparents, William and Iolar Farmer, his beloved parents, his first wife, Trish Ann Hubbard, and his son, Austin Vann Farmer. Despite these profound losses, Gary's spirit remained unbroken, and he continued to be a beacon of joy and strength for his family and friends. He leaves behind a family who adored him: his sister, Michelle Farmer; his brothers, Alex & Ashleigh Farmer and Timmy & Darian Farmer; his ex-wife, Megan Wright, with whom he shared a deep bond; and his children, Christian Lay, Halli Zachary, Mckenzie Farmer, Tessa Farmer, Kaeylyn Farmer, and Gary Paul Farmer Jr. His legacy also lives on through his granddaughter, Layliana Lay, who brought him immense joy, and his nieces and nephews—Nate and Gracie Haralson, Elligh and Hardy Thomas, Aubreigh Farmer, and Maeve Farmer—as well as his great-nephews, Khyker and Frankie Haralson. Gary was a second-generation tree climber by trade, a certified and licensed arborist who took immense pride in his work. His skill and dedication to his craft were unmatched, and his contributions to the field were recognized and respected by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. Beyond his professional life, Gary was a former volunteer firefighter in Tennessee, a testament to his unwavering commitment to serving others and his community. Known for his playful spirit, Gary loved spending time with his friends and family, finding joy in the simplest of moments. He was a man of strong character, who fought his inner demons daily yet loved fiercely and wholeheartedly. He was a loyal friend, a compassionate listener, and a generous soul who never judged others, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need regardless of their circumstances. Gary's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we remember Gary, let us celebrate the love, laughter, and kindness he shared with the world. His life was a testament to the power of love and resilience, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. A memorial service to honor Gary's life will be held in the coming days, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and share stories of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gary's name to a charity of your choice, continuing his legacy of helping others. Rest in peace, dear Gary. You will be dearly missed, but your light will never fade from our hearts.
