Born on June 1, 1939, in Mitchell, South Dakota, Gary's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and an unyielding zest for life. Gary was the beloved son of Lester and Clara Mortweet, who instilled in him values that he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Eugene and Art Mortweet, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms on the other side. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Ginger, to whom he was married for a brief but precious year, and his brother, Bj Mortweet. A proud graduate of Mitchell High School in 1957, Gary pursued higher education at Mankato College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1963. His commitment to service was evident in his six years with the South Dakota National Guard, a period during which he served his state with dedication. Gary's professional journey began in the field of accounting, where his meticulous nature found a perfect match. Later, he transitioned into sales, finding great joy in connecting with others while working in the window industry. His career was marked by hard work and an outgoing personality that endeared him to colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary was an avid world traveler, whose adventures took him to many corners of the globe. From the vast landscapes of Russia and China to the cultural riches of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Mexico, and the historic wonders of Italy, France, and England, Gary's travels were a reflection of his insatiable curiosity and love for discovery. Gary's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He was a man who gave freely of his time and resources, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His warm smile and infectious personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
