With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Gary Louis Piper, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on March 18, 2026, at Rapides Regional Medical Center. Gary was a beloved resident of Alexandria, Louisiana, and his gentle spirit and unwavering love touched the lives of many.
Born on February 9, 1960, in the vibrant community of Alexandria, Gary was the son of the late Edward and Irene Piper. He was a beacon of light and compassion, whose presence was a source of strength and joy for all who had the privilege of knowing him. Gary's life was a testament to faith, family, and dedication.
Gary grew up surrounded by a loving family and graduated from Poland High School with the class of 1968. His educational journey was marked by a commitment to excellence and camaraderie, forging lifelong friendships along the way.
A devoted member of the Daughters Of Zion Baptist Church for over 60 years, Gary lived his faith with sincerity and humility. The church was a second home where he found fellowship, solace, and an outlet for his generous spirit. His steadfast faith was evident in every aspect of his life, and his church family will deeply miss his wisdom and warm hugs.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved son, William King; parents, Edward and Irene Piper; and siblings, Michael Piper, Edward Piper, Lionel Piper, Jimmy Piper, Alice Carter, and Frankie Metoyer. Their memories were cherished parts of his heart, and he spoke of them often with love and fondness.
He leaves behind a rich legacy through his children, Gary Anderson, Kimberly Davis, and Gary Piper, who continue to honor his memory by living with integrity and kindness. Gary was also a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 26 great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and he delighted in sharing stories, laughter, and lessons with each new generation.
A celebration of Gary's remarkable life will be held on March 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Daughters Of Zion Baptist Church, located at 222 Dewitt Lane. Friends, family, and acquaintances are warmly invited to join in honoring a life well-lived and to share in the comforting embrace of community.
As we gather to remember Gary Louis Piper, let us carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and resilience.
