In loving memory of Gary Legree, who departed this world peacefully on April 9th, 2026, surrounded by those he cherished most. Born on June 25th, 1962, in the vibrant neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, Gary was a beacon of light and laughter, whose presence was a gift to all who knew him. Gary was the beloved son of Bertha Bey Bradford and Roosevelt Legree, who preceded him in death, and whose love and teachings helped shape the remarkable man he became. With his passing, Gary leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joy, carried forward by his devoted wife, Simone Legree, to whom he was married for 30 wonderful years. Their journey together began on April 29th, 1994, in Brooklyn, NY. It was a union marked by deep affection, mutual respect, and countless adventures as they traveled the world together, creating memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of their family. Gary is survived by his loving family, including a devoted son, eight siblings, seven children, and six treasured grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. His family was his world, and he was theirs. Gary was also blessed with two cherished daughters-in-law, who were like daughters to him. His family was the heartbeat of his life, always providing him with endless love and support. A dedicated and hardworking man, Gary spent his career as a union laborer. His hands helped build and shape significant projects, such as the Bayonne Bridge, standing as silent testaments to his commitment and skill. His work ethic and dedication were admired by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. Outside of work, Gary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid lover of flea markets and auctions, where he delighted in discovering rare and precious items. His collection was a testament to his keen eye and appreciation for history and beauty. More than his hobbies, it was Gary's infectious sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met. Known for being the life of any gathering, his laughter and wit had the power to brighten the darkest of days. His ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him was unmatched, and his presence made every moment more memorable. A private funeral ceremony will be held, honoring Gary's wishes and allowing his family to say their goodbyes in an intimate setting filled with love and shared memories. As we celebrate his life, we remember Gary for the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared so generously. In this time of grief, we find solace in the memories that Gary left behind, and we honor the incredible life he led. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Gary Legree. Your laughter, love, and legacy will live on through your family and friends, and you will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know you.
