Gary Lange
August 19, 1939 — June 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Gary Lange, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Gary passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, surrounded by love, at the age of 86. He was born on August 19, 1939, in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, to Elmer and Marie Lange, who preceded him in death, along with his sister Barbara, grandson Eric Lange, and great-grandson Ritchie Williams.
Gary's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and a deep love for family and community. A proud alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, Platteville, Gary graduated in 1961, setting the stage for a distinguished career. For 35 years, he dedicated his professional life to the Rock Island County Highway Department, where he served with integrity and commitment, rising to the roles of Superintendent of Rock Island County Highways and Director of Public Works. His contributions to the community were marked by fairness, honesty, and respect, qualities that endeared him to colleagues and residents alike.
On February 3, 1962, Gary married the love of his life, Glenda Lange, embarking on a beautiful journey that spanned 64 years. Together, they built a family rooted in love and faith. Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda, his cherished daughter Margaret Lange, his son Gary Lange Jr., and his daughter Karen (Andy) Neal. The pride of his life was being a grandpa and great-grandpa, roles he embraced with joy and enthusiasm, always finding time to share stories, laughter, and love with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gary was a man of many passions, with a particular fondness for cars. But above all, he was captivated by his family, who he guided with an unwavering hand and a generous spirit. His kindness knew no bounds, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying the true spirit of community service.
An active member of Faith Evangelical Church in Moline, Gary lived his faith daily, inspiring those around him with his steadfast belief and compassionate heart. His presence in the church and the community will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Allure of the Quad Cities for the exceptional care and kindness they provided to Gary over the last nine months. Their dedication and support brought comfort and peace to Gary and his family during this time.
In celebrating Gary's life, we remember a man whose warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone he met. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the cherished memories and the enduring love he shared with us all.
A service to honor Gary's life will be held at a date to be announced, where friends and family will gather to celebrate the legacy of a remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Faith Evangelical Church or a charity of your choice, continuing Gary's tradition of giving and kindness.
Gary Lange will be forever missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.
