It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Joe Simpson, who peacefully left this world on June 29, 2026, at the age of 71. ai Four Seasons Nursing Care center. Born on July 8, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, Gary lived a life full of music, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. Gary was the beloved son of Charlie and Luvenia Simpson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mattie and Darlene, his brother Larry, and his cherished wife Monica Simpson, who together shared a beautiful life and partnership. A devoted father, Gary leaves behind his six children, Earl White of Detroit, Gary White of Fort Lauderdale, MIA White, Josh White, and Nikka Finley, all of Detroit, Michigan. Big Gary of Pontiac MI. His legacy continues through his 17 adoring grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his days. He also leaves behind two nephews, Larry Simpson Jr. (LC) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Oronda Simpson of Detroit, Michigan, whom he loved dearly. Gary spent his career at American Axle in Hamtramck, Michigan, where he was a dedicated member of Local 235 until his retirement on August 1, 2006. His work ethic and camaraderie were admired by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. From a young age, Gary found his spiritual home at New Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit Michigan where he was baptized. His faith remained a guiding light throughout his life. Gary's passion for music was unparalleled. As a talented congo player, he graced many bands with his rhythm and soul. His love for music extended beyond playing, as he enjoyed sharing "oldies but goodies" with family and friends through videos and tracks he lovingly copied. Known for his warmth and kindness, Gary always had a smile and a gentle word for those around him. His presence was a constant source of support and joy, and his ability to show up for his loved ones was unmatched. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, flowers, cards, and gifts during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Gary. Gary Joe Simpson will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched. As we remember Gary, let us celebrate the life of a man who gave so much of himself to others, and whose legacy of love and music will endure forever.
