He is predeceased by his loving parents and his brother-in-law, Mac, who welcomed him into the embrace of eternity. Gary is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, TJ Puckett, who stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. Together, they built a family that was the cornerstone of Gary’s life and joy. He leaves behind his sons, James Urban and Kurt Hermes, and his daughters, Tracy and Kelly Holmes, who will forever treasure the wisdom, laughter, and guidance he imparted upon them. His sister, Lynne, was his lifelong confidante, and their bond was one of enduring strength and affection. Gary’s legacy also lives on through his six adoring grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit and values. In accordance with his wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Gary’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Macon County, reflecting Gary's lifelong commitment to compassion and care for animals.
