He is predeceased by his loving parents and his brother-in-law, Mac, who welcomed him into the embrace of eternity. Gary is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, TJ Puckett, who stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. Together, they built a family that was the cornerstone of Gary’s life and joy. He leaves behind his sons, James Urban and Kurt Hermes, and his daughters, Tracy and Kelly Holmes, who will forever treasure the wisdom, laughter, and guidance he imparted upon them. His sister, Lynne, was his lifelong confidante, and their bond was one of enduring strength and affection. Gary’s legacy also lives on through his six adoring grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit and values. His career as a project manager in construction took him across continents, allowing him to leave a lasting mark on landscapes worldwide. In his younger years, Gary was a proud pro football player in the Canadian Football League, where his passion for sportsmanship and teamwork shone brightly. His Canadian roots also saw him thrive as a cowboy on ranches, embodying the rugged spirit of the land he loved. Gary's zest for life extended far beyond his professional achievements. He and TJ shared a love for exploration, often embarking on cruises to discover new horizons. Gary's fondness for classic cars ignited countless journeys to car shows, auctions, and antique showcases with his beloved friends. His green thumb transformed their home into a sanctuary of beauty and tranquility, where he cultivated both gardens and cherished memories. Known for his gift of making everyone feel welcome and valued, Gary's kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His compassion extended to our four-legged friends, as he rescued many pets from shelters, offering them lives filled with love and care. In accordance with his wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Gary’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Macon County, reflecting Gary's lifelong commitment to compassion and care for animals. Gary George Puckett was a man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a world made better by his presence.
