In loving memory, we celebrate the life and legacy of Garry H. Dier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who passed peacefully from this life on April 9, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on August 4, 1950, in the small town of McComb, Mississippi.
Garry answered the call of duty with valor and pride, serving actively in the United States Army for three years and an additional three years in the reserves. His commitment to public service continued with his retirement from the Louisiana State Troopers Association, after which he lent his expertise to the narcotics bureau in Mississippi. His dedication to safeguarding his community was a hallmark of his character.
A man of faith, Garry was a devoted member of Tylertown Baptist Church, where he shared his warmth and strength with the congregation. He was instrumental in guiding young boys through the RA’s program and contributed to the church’s security team, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed.
Garry's passion for the outdoors was infectious, and he found immense joy in hunting and fishing. He loved nothing more than passing on this passion to his son, Logan Scott Dier, and his grandchildren, Luke, Daven, and Josiah Cammack. With rods and reels at the ready, Garry delighted in teaching them the ins and outs of being true outdoorsmen, ensuring that every visit was filled with adventure and laughter.
Garry leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his beloved wife, Ashley Stovall Dier; his son, Logan Scott Dier; and his daughter, Dana Cammack,( Byron), grandchildren Luke, Daven, and Josiah Cammack, father-in-law Johnny Stovall, mother-in-law, Shelly Stovall, brother-in-law Blake Stovall(LeaAnn) nephew Dillon Stovall. His brothers, Kelly Dier (Teresa) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Anstin Dier (Ann) of Progress, Mississippi, as well as a special nephew, Travis Murry and his family of Livingston, Louisiana, will hold dear the memories of his gentle spirit. Garry is also survived by a host of cousins and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Preceding him in death are his cherished parents, Harold(Bud) and Mary Strahan, and his brother, Kenneth Dier, who now welcome him with open arms.
A service to honor Garry’s life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Tylertown Baptist Church, located at 409 Tyler Ave, Tylertown, MS 39667. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating a life well-lived and the indelible mark Garry left on all who knew him.
