With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Galen Vincent Ollison Sr., who departed this life on March 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with health complications. Galen was born on October 31, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to his loving parents, Jack M. Ollison and Lorraine Ollison. He was a beacon of light and love, whose presence touched all who had the honor of knowing him.
Galen was a devoted family man. He shared a remarkable life with his beloved wife, Nora, whom he married in May 1969. Together, they built a life filled with the love of GOD, laughter in memories, and musical expressions. Their union was blessed with four children: Galen Jr. (Charlotte), Iké (Arcacia), Ansé (Leticia), and Akua (Isaac). He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to flourish through his 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Galen pursued higher education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. His thirst for knowledge and passion for music and humanity led him to become an active member of various divinity-based churches. In the late 70s, he received his license to minister, which was a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication to serving others. Galen's commitment to his community further manifested when he founded Love Church in Dallas, where his legacy of outreach and servitude will continue to thrive.
Galen was a man of many talents. An avid track and field coach, musician, songwriter, and researcher, his greatest joy came from inspiring the youth and making children laugh. His zest for life was infectious, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
Galen was predeceased by his cherished wife Nora, his brother Delbert, his parents Jack and Lorraine, his grandparents Sandy and Daisy, and a host of beloved bonus family members who welcomed him with open arms.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, bonus siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a vast extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory and carry on his legacy of love, laughter, and music.
