Gale Myers

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gale Myers, who left us on June 20, 2023. Born on August 9, 1938, in the United States to Jacob R. Myers and Opal J. Myers, Gale lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to those around him. He was 84 years old. Gale's life was a testament to the power of resilience and dedication. A proud member of the Army National Guard, Gale served his country honorably. His commitment extended beyond military service into his personal life, where he achieved an incredible milestone of 38 years of sobriety through the AA Program of Recovery. His dedication to this cause touched many lives and offered hope to those seeking a path to recovery. Gale was a beloved member of the FBC Liberty City community. He was known for bringing joy as Santa Claus in the Liberty City Christmas Parade for numerous years, delighting children and adults alike with his festive spirit. His love for life was contagious, whether he was hunting, fishing, or playing BINGO, where he famously saved his winnings in quarters, amassing a small fortune of $38.75. An avid sports enthusiast, Gale was an enthusiastic fan of the Texas Rangers Baseball team. Even when he couldn't stay awake to see the end of a game, he eagerly awaited the results each following morning. His loyal companion, a dog named Buckshot, was his constant source of comfort and joy. Gale was predeceased by his father Jacob R. Myers, mother Opal J. Myers, brother Dale Myers, and stepson Michael “Bo” James. His legacy is lovingly carried on by his devoted wife, Patricia Myers, who shared countless cherished moments together. He is also survived by his step-sons, Mark Hurtubise and wife, Pita of Gladewater, TX, and Billy Gwaltney and wife, Diane of Quitman, TX; his sisters, Glenda Stafford of Kilgore, TX, and Belinda Tigert and husband, David of Bay City, TX. Gale leaves behind a large, loving family that includes numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly. A service to honor Gale’s life will be held on June 24, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Gale's memory, celebrating the compassionate and giving spirit he embodied throughout his life. Gale Myers will be remembered for his laughter, his unwavering spirit, and his profound impact on all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, reminding us all of the power of love, dedication, and community.
