In Loving Memory of Gail Olivia Jackson
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Olivia Jackson, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on July 1, 2026. Gail left this world peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family, at the age of 74.
Born on October 1, 1951, in the serene town of Port Jefferson, NY, Gail was the beloved daughter of the late Alexander Yancey and Louise Rowland. From a young age, Gail's vibrant spirit and kind heart were evident to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Vincent Jackson; her brothers, Kenneth and David Yancey; and her treasured grandson, Zyyel Thomas—each of whom she held dear and spoke of fondly.
Gail's life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering dedication. For over 25 years, she drove for a local school bus company, where she was not just a driver but a caregiver, ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and joy to the young students she transported daily.
An active member of In The Word Ministries Church, Gail's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found strength and community within the church, and her involvement was a reflection of her deep spirituality and commitment to serving others.
Gail had a zest for life that was infectious. She delighted in the simple pleasures, like playing cards and coloring on her phone. Her culinary skills, especially her famous cakes and brownies, were legendary among family and friends. These treats were more than just desserts; they were expressions of her love and generosity.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Gail will remember her for her remarkable sense of humor and her radiant smile. She had a unique ability to bring people together, often playing the role of peacemaker in times of conflict. Her warmth and wisdom left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Gail's legacy lives on through her children, Nickquon Jackson, Latoya Turner, and Ikeem Jackson, also her extended stepchildren. Her numerous grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda Mary, Judy and Stephanie. Her one brother Vincent. And extended circle of friends who cherished her deeply.
While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she led—a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion.
As we gather to remember Gail, let us hold onto the memories of joy and warmth she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us with her love and laughter.
