Gabriel Martinez

April 12, 1942 — August 5, 2026

Gabriel Martinez, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed community member, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on August 29, 1942, in Mexico, Gabriel's life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. Gabriel's journey in education began in his homeland, where he served as a respected professor. Seeking new opportunities, he relocated to Texas and embarked on a fulfilling career as a drafting engineer with Shell. His work in engineering and design was marked by innovation and integrity, earning him the admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Known for his warm smile and infectious sense of humor, Gabriel's presence could light up any room. He possessed an innate wisdom that he generously shared, enriching the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His kindness and willingness to help others were defining traits that left an indelible impact on his community. Gabriel's greatest pride and joy were his family. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Blanca Martinez, and his loving children: Javier Martinez, Gerardo Martinez, and Esmi. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren—Javier, Zenia, Anthony, and Gabriel—as well as his two great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and love he imparted. A celebration of Gabriel's remarkable life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the McCoy & Harrison Funeral Home, located at 4918 Martin Luther King Blvd. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, in honor of Gabriel's generous spirit and commitment to aiding others. The Martinez family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Gabriel, especially during his courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. His strength and resilience in the face of adversity were a testament to his character. Gabriel's absence leaves a profound void, but his memory will forever guide and inspire those who loved him. As his family lovingly says, "Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
