FREDERICK MARK OWENS, AKA FREDDY

October 23, 1957 — October 9, 2026

Frederick Mark Owens, affectionately known as Freddy, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on October 23, 1957, in Dayton, OH, Freddy was the beloved son of the late Irvin Matthew Owens Jr. and Rosaline Strickland Owens. Freddy was a warm-spirited individual who was known for his friendliness and his unique, contrary side—a blend of his Dickerson, Owens, and Strickland heritage. His infectious smile and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A proud graduate of Louisville Male High School in 1975, Freddy went on to work at the Walmart Super Center on Hurstbourne Parkway for many years until he became disabled. Despite the challenges he faced, Freddy maintained his love for life, finding joy in simple pleasures. He had a passion for fishing, bowling, and wrestling, but it was his love for music and football that truly defined him. Freddy was an ardent supporter of the Los Angeles Rams, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer for his favorite team. Freddy leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever. He is survived by his sister, Robin Michelle Owens-Railey, and her husband, Ottis G. Railey Jr.; his brother, James Mitchell Owens Sr.; his nephews, Kentario Q. Railey and James M. Owens Jr.; and his nieces, Courtland M. Railey and Christiana M. Owens. Freddy will also be dearly missed by his first cousins, Sharon Gilbert and her family, and Juan Strickland and his family. A celebration of Freddy's life will be held on October 22, 2026, at 5:09 PM at A.D. Porter & Sons Funeral Home, located at 1300 W Chestnut St, Louisville, KY 40203. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life that Freddy lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, an organization close to their hearts. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon, IN, for their dedicated care and companionship to Freddy over the past decade. Your kindness and friendship meant the world to him and to us. Freddy's legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will remain a guiding light for those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
