It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Frederick Leonard Douglas, Jr., who departed this world on February 21, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on April 8, 1956, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, Fred was a beacon of love and light to all who knew him. Fred was the beloved son of Dolores Barbara and Frederick Leonard Douglas, Sr., whose values and devotion he carried forward in his own life. He shared a deeply cherished bond with his siblings, Loretta Rogers and Reginald Douglas, who survive him and remember him as a brother of boundless warmth and joy. His legacy of love continues through his nieces Melea and Deserie Douglas, and nephews Jonathan Rogers, Jadon, and Jajeb Douglas. His presence will also be dearly missed by his cousins Barbara Pariot, Joycelyn Maddox, Marquita Maddox, DeMaurier Lewis, Jamal Pinkney, Katonda Pariot, and Demetrius Pariot, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Fred's early years were spent in the neighborhoods of Los Angeles, where he attended Manhattan Place Elementary and St. Eugene's Elementary/Middle School, later moving on to Junipero Serra and Westchester High Schools. It was during these formative years that Fred's love for football blossomed, and he proudly played for both Serra and Westchester High School teams. His passion for the game was rivaled only by his love for music, particularly the soulful rhythms of jazz. Fred was a talented musician, delighting friends and family with his bongo and saxophone performances, each note a testament to his zest for life. A proud graduate of California State University, Northridge, Fred earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, an achievement that underscored his commitment to education and personal growth. Throughout his life, Fred was known for his unmistakably LOUD voice and his friendly demeanor. There was never a stranger in Fred's world; he was a friend to all, a man who embraced life with open arms and an open heart. Central to Fred's life was his unwavering faith and devotion to God. His heart, mind, and soul were steadfastly anchored in his love for Jesus, providing him with strength, guidance, and an unshakeable foundation throughout his life’s journey. In the final chapter of his life, Fred received compassionate care from the dedicated staff at Sunnyview Residential. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to them for their kindness and support during this time. As we bid farewell to Frederick Leonard Douglas, Jr., we hold tightly to the memories he leaves behind and the love he shared so generously.
