In Loving Memory

Frederick Lee Chappell
August 11, 1962 — February 12, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Frederick Lee Chappell, who left this world on February 12, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on August 11, 1962, Frederick was a beloved son of the late Carrie Lee McKoy and Frank Chappell Jr., and a cherished companion to his predeceased long-term girlfriend, Lillie Bell Colvin.
Frederick was a beacon of light and warmth in the lives of everyone who had the privilege to know him. His smile was infectious, capable of brightening even the darkest of rooms, and his spirit was one of pure joy and laughter, bringing happiness to those around him. He was a man who lived with authenticity and a heart full of agape love, always giving freely and expecting nothing in return. To those who knew him best, Frederick embodied the notion of "perfect imperfection," loving without conditions and forgiving with ease.
He leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply, including his four brothers, Franklin (Audrey), Jerome (Lora), Sherrod (Shirlene), and Frankie Young (Barbara); three sisters, Geraldine, Carrie Mae, and Doris; and three step-siblings, Cokey, Lassie, and Maddie. Frederick also held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, Sabrina (Toboris), Amanda, Kary, Taliyah, Christopher (Crystal), Shaunda, Sheronda, Sherrod Jr., Kimberly (Samuel), and Michael, who were like his own children. He created countless cherished memories with them, from playful days in the park to long walks filled with laughter and love.
Frederick’s life was a testament to the power of love and family. As the years passed, he continued to be the fun, caring, and devoted uncle his great-nieces and great-nephews adored, ensuring that his legacy of joy and kindness would endure through generations.
A celebration of Frederick's life will be held on February 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at 168 New Bethal Church Rd, Saint Pauls, NC. This gathering will be an opportunity for family and friends to honor and remember the incredible life he lived and the love he shared so generously.
In a heartfelt tribute from his twin brother Franklin, affectionately known as "Flag," the deep connection they shared is beautifully captured in his words:
"My twin brother’s gone, but in my heart you’ll stay. We shared our dreams in our own special way. Childhood buddies through thick and thin, We had each other’s backs, true kin."
"When one was down, the other would lift, Keeping each other going was our lifelong gift. We said we’d never part, come what may, Cranking up the tunes and dancing the pain away."
"We’d let the music take control of our bones, Dancing like happiness was all we’d known. Our spirits would shake, we’d sing out loud, Those memories remain—I still feel them now."
"My best friend’s gone, and I carry this pain. How do I keep going with this heart in vain? Goodbye, Freddy—I’ll see you on the flip side. Forever with me, right here you’ll reside."
Frederick Lee Chappell will be remembered as a man who lived with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his spirit will forever dance with us.
