Freddie Ramon Richter

Freddie Ramon Richter, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on February 11, 1939, in Fedor, Texas, Freddie was the beloved son of Herbert and Gertrude Richter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Herbert August Andrew Richter Jr., and his sister Dorothy Ann Cook. Freddie's life was a testament to devotion, service, and love. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Mae Neumeyer, on June 25, 1960. Together, they built a beautiful family, blessed with two children: Brenda Kay Vrabel (Richter) and her husband Mark Vrabel, and Marvin Wayne Richter and his wife Pam Richter (Esch). Freddie's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kyle Richter and his wife Colleen, and Caity Yanda (Richter) and her husband Mike, along with his treasured great-grandchildren, Molly, Ella, Harrison, Paige, Mason, and Cooper. A proud veteran, Freddie served in the United States Air Force for over 21 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. His dedication was profoundly evident during his tours in the Korean and Vietnam wars, along with various overseas assignments. It was during his service that he earned his GED in 1963, exemplifying his commitment to self-improvement and excellence. Upon retiring from the Air Force, Freddie pursued his passion for mechanics, working as a heavy-duty mechanic. Known affectionately as "Hank Hill" in his neighborhood for his resemblance and demeanor, he was always ready to lend a helping hand, share a story, or engage in friendly debates about his beloved Dallas Cowboys, fishing trips, or the latest NASCAR race. Freddie was also a devoted member of Christ Lutheran Church upon returning from an overseas assignment in the Philippines in 1980. He took immense pride in his role as an Usher, Head Usher, and member of the Board of Trustees. His commitment to the church was unwavering; he was often seen arriving early to ensure everything was perfectly prepared for worship. Freddie's battle with Alzheimer’s revealed the tender and loving side of his nature, endearing him even more to those around him. His sweet smile and rosy cheeks became a source of comfort and warmth to all who knew him. A service to celebrate Freddie's life will be held on September 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 300 E Monroe, Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Christ Lutheran Church General Fund, honoring Freddie's lifelong dedication to his faith and community. Freddie Ramon Richter's life was filled with love, laughter, and service. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and passion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
