Currie, who peacefully departed this world on August 21, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by the warmth of his home in Brooklyn N.Y Freddie’s remarkable journey began on March 23, 1941, in Loris, South Carolina as the cherished son of Fred Herbert and Mary Simmons Currie. Though he battled with dementia in his final days, his spirit remained unyielding and his legacy unforgotten. Freddie was a man of exceptional intelligence and ambition. He graduated as valedictorian with a major in mathematics and further pursued his passion in the automotive field, graduating with top honors. Freddie’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to great success in three distinct businesses. He also proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, a testament to his dedication and strength. In 1960, he married his beloved Eleanor Mims in Brooklyn, New York. Their union of 65 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership, a life rich with love and laughter. Together, they nurtured a family full of warmth and resilience, though they faced the heartache of losing their son, Terrance, and grandson, Cameron. Freddie is survived by his devoted wife Eleanor, his treasured great-grandson Kanye, his sisters Emma Watson and Mary Currie, and his brother-in-law Ronald Mims also 10 niece's and 10 nephews His family continues to honor his memory and the lessons he imparted. Freddie's life was a testament to his faith and generosity. A dedicated member of Victory Outreach Brooklyn for 45 years, he was known for his passionate storytelling about Jesus, serving as a spiritual guide and father figure to many. His love for making bread pudding was a simple yet profound gesture of his kindness, often shared with the men’s home and fellow church members. Freddie will be remembered for his ever-present smile, his silly jokes, and his willingness to go the extra mile for others. His legacy of mercy, kindness, love, and joy has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
