Freddie was cherished by his family and friends, and he left this world enveloped in the love and warmth of his home in Chicago, Illinois, where his incredible journey began on October 15, 1947.
Born to the late Freddie C. Reedy and Johnnie C. Reedy, Freddie was a beacon of light and strength in his family. He was the beloved brother of the late Deborah Riggins, who predeceased him. Freddie's legacy continues through his devoted children: his loving son, Deonte Scott and his wife in Texas, and his cherished daughter, Latrina Trice and her husband Lawrence in California. Freddie was also a proud grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren, including Larry, and a great-grandfather to four beautiful great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his later years.
Freddie dedicated his professional life to the Chicago Board of Education, where he served with distinction and commitment until his retirement. His passion for education and his unwavering dedication to fostering learning and growth left an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues throughout his career.
Freddie's life was enriched by significant relationships that brought him joy and fulfillment. Though details of his marital or partnership journey remain private, it is clear that love and companionship were cherished aspects of his life.
Freddie was a lifelong learner, valuing education as a cornerstone of personal and community development. His academic achievements and the knowledge he imparted to others continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of Freddie's remarkable life will be held on May 20, 2026, at 12:30 PM at The Place, located at 1234 W Hasted Street. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering spirit.
