Freda Farlow, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Freda was the cherished daughter of James Gordy and Mae Rice, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her son, Raymond, her sister, Gwen, and her brother, Jesse. Freda's life was a testament to strength, resilience, and a generous spirit. A proud Philadelphian, she attended Overbrook High School and later earned her GED, demonstrating her commitment to growth and learning. She dedicated her career to helping others as a case worker, where her compassionate nature left a lasting impact on those she served. In 1976, Freda married the love of her life, Fred Farlow, and together they built a beautiful life over 50 years of marriage. Their love was a beacon of strength and unity, cherished by all who knew them. Freda was an active member of Saint Andrews St. Monica, where her faith and dedication to her community were evident. She was known for her outspoken nature and good heart, qualities that endeared her to family and friends alike. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who crossed her path. She had a passion for sewing, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. Freda also enjoyed the thrill of going to the casino, where she spent joyful moments with friends and family. Freda's legacy lives on through her large and loving family, including her husband Fred, 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Freda's honor. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
