Fred Mack Hill, Sr.

It is with deep sadness yet profound respect that we announce the peaceful passing of Fred Mack Hill, Sr. on May 25, 2026, at the age of 94. Fred was born on June 19, 1931, in Waycross, Georgia, to the late M.C. Hill and Clara Hill. His journey through life was marked by love, service, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who knew him.
Fred was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marie Hill, with whom he shared a life filled with laughter, adventure, and steadfast companionship. Together, they created a family rooted in love and resilience. Fred was predeceased by his son, Fred Hill, Jr., with whom he now reunites in eternal peace. He also joins his dear sister, Betty Hofler, and his cherished parents in everlasting rest.
Fred’s life was shaped by his courageous service to his country. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Fred served with honor during the Korean War, where he was known by his comrades as "Boots on the Ground." His military service was a cornerstone of his life, instilling in him a deep sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried into his civilian life.
After his military service, Fred embarked on a successful career with DuPont Chemical Plant in New Jersey, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. He cherished the friendships he formed there, which lasted throughout his lifetime.
A man of many passions, Fred found joy in boating and golfing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and his community. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #283, where he was a cherished friend and mentor to many. Fred’s laughter and stories filled many a gathering, leaving behind memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Hill, and his devoted daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hill, who held a special place in his heart. Fred's life was enriched by the companionship of his sister-in-law, Bernice Hall, and brothers-in-law Robert Hall, Jake Hall (Linda), Michael Hall (Gloria), and Lamar Hall (Cynthia). His cousins, Carol Holmes and Dr. John King, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends, will forever hold Fred in their hearts.
Fred's legacy is one of kindness, strength, and love. He was a man who lived fully and loved deeply, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he leaves behind. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Fred’s wishes, where family and close friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable life.
In remembrance of Fred Mack Hill, Sr., let us honor his memory by cherishing those around us and continuing his legacy of service and friendship. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
