In Loving Memory of Fred
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fred, a remarkable young man whose spirit touched all who had the privilege to know him. Born on February 26, 2009, in the charming city of St. John’s, Fred’s journey came full circle on his seventeenth birthday, February 26, 2026, as he peacefully departed this world at home, enveloped in the love of his family.
Left to mourn are his mother Angela Okeefe, his brother Landon Okeefe, his sister Keira Okeefe, his sister Miley Okeefe, and his brother Spencer Okeefe.
Fred was the cherished son of Angela O’Keefe, whose unwavering support and love laid the foundation for his kind and giving nature. His early years in St. John’s were filled with laughter and learning, setting the stage for a life marked by compassion and a dedication to helping others.
Fred’s academic journey led him to the halls of Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), where his curiosity and eagerness to learn flourished. His time at MUN not only expanded his knowledge but also his friendships, as he formed bonds that would last a lifetime.
Professionally, Fred found his passion under the hood of a car, working as a mechanic at Hickman. His colleagues remember him not just for his skill and dedication to his craft, but for his infectious enthusiasm and willingness to lend a helping hand. Fred’s work was more than a job; it was an expression of his commitment to solving problems and making the world a little better, one vehicle at a time.
Away from work, Fred embraced the simple joys of life. His love for farming and cultivating his own food brought him immense satisfaction and peace. Whether it was tending to a small garden or savoring the fruits of his labor, Fred found harmony in nature’s cycle. His love for cheese was legendary among his friends, often becoming the centerpiece of joyful gatherings and shared laughter.
Fred’s heart was as vast as his interests. He was known for his quickness to help someone in need, a trait that endeared him to all who knew him. His friends and family recall countless instances where Fred’s generosity and empathy shone brightly, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
As we bid farewell to Fred, we hold onto the warmth of his spirit and the lessons of kindness and love he imparted during his time with us. Though his years were few, his impact was profound, and his legacy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have been touched by his presence.
Fred is survived by his beloved mother Angela, and a host of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul that brought joy and goodness to the world.
In honoring Fred, let us remember to live with the same generosity, compassion, and zest for life that he embodied every day. Rest in peace, dear Fred; your light will never fade from our hearts.
