Frank Pandt

Frank Macdonald Pandt Sr., a longtime resident of Satsuma, Fla., and a devoted husband, supportive father and proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, died on June 18, 2026, in Palatka, Fla. He was 87. The cause was complications associated with advanced age. Born on Oct. 18, 1938, in Cambridge, Mass., Frank was the eldest of three children of Theodore M. Pandt and Marguerite Pandt (née Johnson). His father emigrated to the United States from Sint Eustatius in the Dutch West Indies, while his mother was originally from Sparta, Ga. Frank was raised in the tight-knit community of Columbia Terrace in Cambridge’s historic Port neighborhood. He graduated from Cambridge High School, now Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, in 1956. While still in high school, he began his apprenticeship with IBEW Local 103 in Boston and earned his certificate of completion in April 1963. Although he officially received his electrical worker’s certificate at age 24, Frank had been working in the trade since he was 16. Even in retirement, he maintained his electrician’s license. Recently, he was honored for 70 years of service to the Brotherhood. Frank’s commitment to the IBEW ran deep. The tradition extended across generations, from his father to his son and grandson. He formed lifelong friendships through the union and its clubs. One of his favorite activities was attending the annual IBEW Reunion. He served as chairman of the 1984 reunion held in Sturbridge, Mass. Frank was an active member of the Putnam County (Fla.) Shrine Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, Crescent City Chapter No. 200. He enjoyed the camaraderie and especially looked forward to the Shriners’ weekly Friday Steak Night fundraiser. He also maintained his longtime membership with the Brighton (Mass.) Elks Club 2199. Everywhere he went, Frank was a spirited conversationalist, full of ideas and ideals. He was ready with a laugh and quick to help others in need. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Pandt (née Downey); his children, Barbara Ann Pandt and Robert Pandt; his sister, Marguerite “Margy” Lemieux; and his grandson, Kevin Shankleton. He was also predeceased by his beloved dog, Ranger, who died in 2023. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Susan Ann Solimine and her husband, Diego, of Sutton, N.H.; his sons, Howard “Skip” Nelson and his wife, Lisa, of Kokomo, Ind., David Pandt of Bellingham, Wash. and Frank M. Pandt Jr. of Satsuma, Fla.; his daughter-in-law, Nicola Dovholuk, widow of his late son, Robert; his sister, Muriel Beltran; and eight grandchildren. Frank’s ashes, along with those of his wife, will be interred at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
