It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Francisca Dela Vega, who departed this life on June 30, 2026, at the age of 92. Francisca passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with chronic kidney disease. Her indomitable spirit and unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Born on October 19, 1933, in the warm embrace of Brownsville, Texas, Francisca was a beacon of kindness and compassion from an early age. She dedicated 33 years of her life to the education sector, working diligently for the local school district. Her commitment to nurturing young minds left an indelible mark on countless students, colleagues, and parents, who were fortunate to witness her passion for education and her genuine care for each child’s future.
Francisca’s greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and warmth where family gatherings were frequent and cherished. She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Delia Otero and Alma Ponce, who were the pride and joy of her life. Francisca was also blessed with two grandchildren, who knew her not only as a grandmother but as a source of wisdom and love.
In her lifetime, Francisca experienced the profound sorrow of saying goodbye to her grandson, Brandon Copp, grandson Kevin Copp. She is also predeceased by her cherished daughter, Delia Otero. Despite these profound losses, Francisca remained a pillar of strength and resilience, providing comfort and support to those around her.
A service to honor Francisca’s remarkable life will be held on July 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Church, located at 1313 West Buchanan Street, Harlingen, TX 78550. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Francisca are warmly invited to gather and celebrate a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that echoes Francisca’s lifelong commitment to helping others and making the world a better place.
