Francis James Trudeau, Jr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Francis James Trudeau, Jr., on August 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family both bedside and afar. Born on December 15, 1933, in Ticonderoga, New York, Francis lived a life marked by devotion to his family, community, and country. The son of Francis Sr. and Mary (Gregory) Trudeau, Francis grew up in Ticonderoga, where he attended the local high school before proudly serving his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. From 1951 to 1954, he served aboard the USS Chilton APA 38, earning the Meritorius Mast in 1953. After his honorable discharge in 1959, he returned to Ticonderoga, where he received his GED and embarked on a long career at International Paper Company. Over 41 years, Francis worked diligently, beginning in the Finishing Room and concluding his career at the Ross Farm Water Treatment Plant, retiring in 1996. A man of great generosity and unwavering work ethic, Francis dedicated his retirement years to serving others. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and offered transportation to community members through the Office of the Aging. A devout parishioner of St. Mary's Church, his faith was a guiding force throughout his life. Francis loved the great outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and camping with his family at Putnam Pond. He took pride in his garden and lawn. He enjoyed cooking, especially 'tweaking' recipes. He passed down to his children and grandchildren the importance of cherished family traditions and the love of nature. Francis was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Anna Mae, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage, four siblings: George W. Trudeau, Mary Lou Leavens, Sally Trombley, and Ernest Trudeau, his step-son Scott Rockwell, his great-granddaughter Gracie AnnaMae Trudeau, and his step great-grandson Beckham Egglefield. He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon, his cherished children: Ann (Matt) Killeen, Frank (Janice) Trudeau, Patricia (Dave) Pfeil, his sister Stella Snell, his stepchildren Ron Rockwell and Sheri Osier, and his grandchildren: Jillian, Jessica, Frank E., Dan (Megan), Sheree (Rodney), Cory (Gabby), Emily, and Andrew (Danielle). He also leaves behind Dawn, Kristen, Jacob, Dillon and Derrick. Francis leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. On August 22, 2026 a funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 22 Father Joques Place, Ticonderoga, NY, followed by a burial service at St. Mary's Cemetery and a military ceremony at 12:30 pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery to honor and celebrate Francis's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ticonderoga Senior Bus or the Veteran's Association, in memory of Francis's dedication to his community and fellow veterans. The Trudeau family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who provided compassionate care and support during Francis's illnesses. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
