Francis passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an enduring spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Francis was the cherished son of George and Peppa Thompson, who instilled in him a sense of curiosity and determination that would guide him throughout his life. His journey in academia was nothing short of impressive; he graduated with honors from Harvard University, a testament to his dedication and brilliance. Though his path led him to Yale, he chose to follow his passion for aerodynamics, a decision that reflected his adventurous spirit and love for the skies. Above all, Francis was a family man. He was the devoted husband to Adrianne Giattino, his eternal love and steadfast partner through life's many adventures. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and joy. Though preceded in death by his beloved son, Sean, his beautiful daughter, Angela, and his dear son Erick, Francis’s love for his family knew no bounds. He adored his five grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Francis had a unique perspective on life, often finding humor in the ordinary and the extraordinary alike. His playful nature and quick wit were encapsulated in his family's special message: “What am I doing? What are YOU doing?” This sentiment perfectly captures Francis's ability to embrace life with lightheartedness and a sense of wonder.
