In loving memory of Frances Virginia Slayton Keene, who passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on January 14, 1950, in Richmond, Virginia, Frances was a beacon of warmth and kindness whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and joy. Frances was the cherished daughter of the late James A. Slayton and Ada B. Moore Fowler. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James M. Keene, Sr., and her son, James "Boo-Boo" Keene, Jr., whom she adored deeply. She also joins in eternal rest her sister, Rosa Edgerton, and brothers, Frank "Benny" Slayton and Donald Slayton. Surviving Frances is her devoted brother, James Slayton, and his wife, Brenda, who shared in many cherished family memories. Her legacy continues through her loving daughter, Tracy Keene Lamb, and son-in-law, William. Frances was a proud grandmother to her grandsons, James L. Keene (Keisha), Gary Lamb, and Austin Sellers (Nakayla), and her granddaughters, Paige Lamb (Shane), Alyssa Brown (Emmanuel), Mackenzie Demille (Hendricks), Madison Lamb, and Heaven-Leigh Lamb. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, each a testament to the vibrant family she and James built together. Numerous nieces and nephews, whom she treasured dearly, will also carry forward her memory. Frances found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. She had a profound love for the outdoors, often spending her time fishing, tending to her beloved plants, and nurturing her gardens. Her green thumb was legendary, and her garden was a sanctuary of beauty and peace. Frances had an infectious spirit, known for her love of singing and dancing, which brought joy to everyone around her. She had an uncanny ability to find treasures where others saw none, never passing up the opportunity to explore a thrift store or yard sale. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone she met, and her legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration of Frances’s life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Kingsley Lake Civic Center, located at 6110 Kingsley Lake Dr., Starke, FL 32091. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in the stories and memories that have made Frances’s life so special. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider planting a tree or a flower in Frances's honor, continuing her legacy of nurturing life and beauty. Frances Virginia Slayton Keene will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
