Frances P. Jones, a cherished soul who graced the world with her warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully in her home on June 26, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on October 22, 1936, in what was then Nansemond County, now Suffolk, Virginia, Frances lived a life rich with love and generosity, touching the hearts of everyone she met. Daughter of the late Ernest and Martha Chapman Hall, Frances was predeceased by her beloved parents and her brothers, Wilbert L. Hall and Charles B. Hall. Her legacy of love and compassion continues through her surviving family, including her devoted children: Carol P. Lyttle, Michael R. Pittman, (Sandra), Dr. Francine P. Jackson, (Steven) and Tommy L. Pittman (Pertina). Frances was also blessed with a sister, Mrs. Lillie Parker, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will carry her spirit forward. Frances was educated in Suffolk, Virginia, attending Oakland Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. She built a rewarding career at Smithfield Packing Company, where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 1974. Her dedication and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on her colleagues and friends. A devoted member of Little Bethel Baptist Church in Suffolk, Virginia, Frances's faith was an integral part of her life. She was known for her warm smile and had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcomed and loved. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and she found joy in simple pleasures. Whether tending to her garden, enjoying a peaceful day of fishing, or cooking a delicious meal for her family, Frances filled her days with love and gratitude. Frances had a deep appreciation for antiques and found beauty in the stories they carried. Her home was a testament to her passion, filled with cherished pieces that spoke to her keen eye and appreciation for history. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Genitva Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Frances's final days. As we celebrate the life of Frances P. Jones, we hold her close in our hearts, knowing that her spirit will forever guide and inspire us.
