In Loving Memory

Frances O'Keefe
February 15, 1928 — May 9, 2026
Frances O'Keefe, 98, formally of Great Kills, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026 at her daughter's home in Florida.
Born February 15, 1928 in Detroit Michigan, she was a most beloved daughter of the late John and Jenny Hoffman, and sister to three sisters and four brothers.
Throughout her life, Frances enjoyed being a loving wife and mother. After her youngest daughter, Elizabeth went to school, she was employed at the A&P for over 20 years. She was always passionate about caring for her family. Her greatest legacy is not measured in possessions or accomplishments, but in the lives she touched and the love she leaves behind. As time passes, we all begin to understand that many of the best parts of ourselves were quietly shaped by her love. The kindness she always showed, the strength she carried, the patience she practiced, and the resilience she modeled, became the gifts that live on through her children and grandchildren.
Francis was the cherished wife of James LaSalle O'Keefe, Sr. to whom she was married to for 77 wonderful years. James and Frances together would dedicate their lives to raising their family, as they became the parents of their greatest adventure, their successes, their eight children; Suzanne, Maureen, Patricia, James, Dennis, Karren, Elizabeth, and the late Kevin. Also mourning the immense loss of their fond mother-in-law are Gayle O'Keefe, Joann O'Keefe, and Rick Buttermark. Frances's legacy of love is assured of living on through the lights of her life, her 13 grandchlidren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Frances was always delighted by children, and loved being able to see three generations unfold in her growing family. She was delighted to welcome a great-great grandson into the family before her passing.
Scores of neices, nephews and greater extended family wil mourn the loss of Frances forevermore. We all remember the beautiful and loving person she was and take solice in knowing that she is now at peace. Rest in Eternal Peace, Frances O'Keefe. You are missed dearly by all who knew and loved you.
