Frances Kay Pauszek, affectionately known as "Kay," peacefully departed this world on April 25, 2026, after a short illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. Born on March 9, 1937, in Elkart, Indiana, Kay was a beacon of warmth and care throughout her 89 years.
Kay was the cherished daughter of Thomas and Jeanne Cantwell and beloved sister to her predeceased brother, Tom . She was a devoted wife to Robert B. Pauszek Sr., MD with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 61 years, beginning in 1957.until Bob’s death in 2018. Together, Kay and Bob built a family centered around love, raising six children who, along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, survive her and will continue to honor their Grandma Cody’s legacy.
A woman of remarkable strength and devotion, Kay was no only a busy mother and wife but she also found time to open her own Southwestern artifact company Clay Basket. Her entrepreneurial spirit was fueled by a deep passion for creativity and art.
Kay was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she found community and solace in attending Bible study and other church-related activities. Her love for her faith was as fervent as her love for Indiana University football and basketball, which she followed avidly.
Those who knew Kay will fondly remember her acts of kindness, such as her signature habit of handing out $2 bills as tips and placing them in birthday cards—a small gesture that brought joy to many. Her generosity extended beyond financial tokens; Kay was known for her hospitality, always urging guests to take something with them as they left her home. Her genuine warmth and nurturing spirit touched countless lives, creating a ripple effect of love and compassion.
A private funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, where Kay will be laid to rest. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical and nursing staff at Community East, HOW private duty nursing, and Legacy Hospice for their compassionate care during Kay's final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Spirit Parish at Geist, reflecting Kay's enduring commitment to her faith and community.
In this time of mourning, Kay’s family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the outpouring of love and support they have received. Her spirit will continue to guide them, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.
