In Loving Memory

Foster (Goonie) Hill
May 20, 1957 — July 17, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Foster Hill, a cherished father, brother, and friend, who left this world on July 17, 2026. Born on May 20, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Foster was the beloved son of Hazel (Hayden) Tinson and Edward E. Hill, who have both preceded him in death.
Foster’s early years were shaped by a strong sense of family and faith, having been baptized at a young age at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. He carried the values instilled in him throughout his life, always nurturing a deep connection to his community and faith.
A proud alumnus of Crispus Attucks High School, class of 1975, Foster went on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1983. Rising to the rank of Sergeant while stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, Foster exemplified bravery and dedication, earning the respect of his fellow Marines.
After his military service, Foster found joy and fulfillment in his work as a line cook at several cherished local establishments, including Distillery, Dug Out, and Irias. His culinary skills were matched only by his passion for landscaping, a profession he pursued with ProCare Landscaping. Foster's love for the outdoors was evident not only in his professional life but also in his hobbies, where he found tranquility and happiness in fishing and tending to landscapes.
Foster was a man of boundless warmth, known for his friendly and generous smile, which had the power to light up any room. His open-hearted nature meant he never met a stranger, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand, going the extra mile for anyone in need.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family: his sons, Alexander Hill and Kendall Hill; and a host of 16 treasured grandchildren. Foster is also survived by his siblings, James Hayden, Joseph Hill, Marguerite Watkins, and Elizabeth Hayden, along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
A service to honor Foster’s life will be held on August 7, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, located at 2815 Sutherland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46208. The family expresses their gratitude to the DVA for their unwavering support, and in lieu of flowers, they kindly suggest donations be made to a charity of choice in Foster's memory.
As we bid farewell to our friend and brother, we will remember for his generous smile and big heart. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Rest in peace, dear Foster. Your life was a beautiful gift to all who knew you.
