Floyd Sanford

Floyd was born on September 10, 1946, in Fulton, NY. He passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 79 in Indio, CA due to complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Scott, daughter Janette, grandchildren, Aurora, Gabriel and Hannah. His sister Vanessa and niece Stephanie plus many extended family members and friends he called family. Floyd grew up in a small industrial city of Fulton, NY. Floyds love for the outdoors, and adventures began at a young age. If it was swimming in Oswego River which, was not allowed. Riding his bike tandem with his best friend, way too fast or hunting for a good adventure. Maybe his favorite thing was to tease his little sister that he referred to as Pinky. Floyd's love for adventure did not end in childhood but led him to join the US Navy on June 24, 1964, right out of high school. He immediately was deployed overseas as it was during the Vietnam War era. He obtained multiple service awards during his tenue and separated from the USS Princeton (LPH-5) out of Long Beach on June 23, 1970. Following the military Floyd worked and retired from Rockwell Collins in the Aerospace industry as a quality control engineer. He retired on Nov 30, 2007. With his wife at his side, Floyd experienced fun and adventure at any chance he could. They bought a sailboat and competed in sail races. Bought horses and tested the road of harness racing. Water skiing, Snow Skiing, Scuba and Sky Diving, Camping, Fishing, Golfing, shooting and hiking to mentioned a few. Floyd and Barbara built a life of friendship, love, and admiration. Supporting each other interest and pushing each other to be better people. Floyd was adventurous, humble, and had a great sense of humor and always willing to lend a hand. His love and smile will be carried in our hearts always.
