Floyd Lynn Bailey Sr
August 23, 1951 — June 11, 2026
With heavy hearts, the family of Floyd Lynn Bailey Sr. announces his peaceful passing on June 11, 2026. Having lived a rich and fulfilling life, Floyd departed this world at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Born on August 23, 1951, in the quaint town of Winchester, Indiana, Floyd was the beloved son of the late James Thomas Bailey Sr. and Vivien Louise Simpson-Bailey. Raised in a family that valued togetherness, Floyd's formative years were spent alongside his siblings, including his late brothers, Donald and Ronald Bailey. He is survived by his brother, George Bailey, who remains to carry forward the cherished memories of their shared childhood.
Floyd's life was a testament to the power of kindness and generosity. Known for his selflessness, he consistently put the needs of others before his own. His innate ability to fix anything, coupled with his willingness to lend a helping hand, made him a beacon of support for friends, family, and even strangers. He found joy in uplifting others, and his genuine concern for the well-being of those around him was evident in every interaction.
A man of many talents, Floyd found solace and delight in the simple pleasures of life. He was never happier than when he was out on the lake, the gentle lapping of water against his beloved pontoon creating the perfect backdrop for fishing trips that were more about creating memories than catching fish. His green thumb yielded a bountiful garden each year, with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers among his prized harvests. His culinary creations, including his renowned homemade applesauce, tomato sauce, and jalapeño cheese dip, were a testament to his love for sharing good food with good company. On any given day, the enticing aroma from his grill was a sure sign that Floyd, the grill master, was at work.
Floyd's greatest joy came from his family, who were the center of his world. He leaves behind his cherished children: Floyd Lynn Bailey Jr., Tonya Sue Hall, and twins Erica Lavonne Bailey and Earl Anthony Bailey. His love and guidance will continue to resonate through the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness. He is also fondly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who were touched by his warmth and generosity.
In their time of grief, Floyd's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Reid Health, particularly to Cody Hapner, RN, for the extraordinary care and compassion shown during Floyd's final days. Their appreciation also goes out to the dedicated staff at The Willows of Richmond, whose unwavering support and love provided comfort during his journey.
As we celebrate the life of Floyd Lynn Bailey Sr., let us remember the kindness, laughter, and love he bestowed upon us all. Although he has left this earthly realm, his spirit continues to inspire us to live with compassion, generosity, and an open heart.
A memorial service to honor Floyd's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Floyd's memory, continuing his legacy of helping others.
Rest in peace, dear Floyd. You will be deeply missed, and your legacy will forever live in the hearts of all who knew you.
