Floyd Howard Chambers

January 14, 1932 — June 30, 2026

Floyd Howard Chambers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this world on June 30, 2026, at the age of 94, in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 14, 1932, in Uvalde, Texas, Floyd's journey through life was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. Floyd was the cherished son of Carl and Vada Chambers, and he grew up in a lively household alongside his six siblings. He graduated from McCamey High School in 1951 and shortly thereafter, began a remarkable 26-year career with the United States Air Force. During his service, he attained the rank of Master Sergeant and earned an associate degree from the University of Maryland. His years in the military were a testament to his unwavering commitment and integrity. In 1958, Floyd married Dorothy White, a partnership that brought him immense joy and two cherished daughters, Charlotte Parker and Pat Reynolds. Their union was a beautiful blend of love and family, and Floyd embraced his role as a father with open arms. He was predeceased by Dorothy in 2005, but their love story remained a cornerstone of his life. Floyd found love again in 2010 when he married Bennie Taylor, with whom he shared the latter years of his life. Together, they were active members of St. John's Methodist Church, where Floyd's kindness and humor endeared him to everyone he met. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Floyd had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. His favorite saying, "YOU DID GOOD," was a reflection of his generous spirit and ability to see the best in people. After retiring from the Air Force, Floyd and Dorothy moved to Georgetown, Texas, where they opened Creative Interiors, a successful business that flourished for a decade. Later, Floyd embarked on a new chapter with the IRS in Austin, showcasing his versatility and resilience. Floyd's passion for life extended beyond his work into his leisure pursuits. An avid golfer, he was a dedicated member of the Georgetown Country Club for 49 years, forging lifelong friendships on the greens. His love for the game was matched only by his devotion to his family, which included five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought him boundless joy. After marriage to Bennie, he was a active member at St. John's Methodist church, serving as secretary of the Methodist Men's association and sang in the men's choir and was a trained Stephen Minister at his church. He went on mission trips with the youth of his church and participated in the Walk to Emmaus. In his early adult life he was a Boy Scout leader, and a proud member of VFW Post 8587. Through his involvement in various organizations, Floyd demonstrated a commitment to service and a desire to leave a positive impact on the world. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Bennie; daughters, Charlotte and Pat; and his expansive family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, all six of his siblings, and his first wife, Dorothy. A celebration of Floyd's incredible life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. John's Methodist Church, 311 East University Avenue, Georgetown, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Baylor Scott & White Hospice for their compassionate care during Floyd's final days. As he would have said, "YOU DID GOOD." Special thanks are also given to his great-nephew, Tyler Mason, for creating a beautiful video tribute to Floyd's life. Floyd Howard Chambers lived a life of love, laughter, and service. His legacy of kindness and generosity will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Floyd, knowing that you did indeed "do good."
