Floyd Glendean

Floyd Glendean Potts, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 2, 2026, at his home in Colbert, Oklahoma after a valiant struggle with stage 4 kidney disease. Born on October 24, 1948, Floyd was raised in a loving family by his parents, Floyd Calvin Potts and Oristene Hartline Potts, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and dedication. Glendean graduated from Colbert High School in 1966. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, when he was drafted into the United States Army from 1968 to 1974. During the Vietnam War, he served as a Sentry Handler, working closely with his loyal canine companion, demonstrating bravery and resilience. On June 9, 1970, Glendean married the love of his life, Melba Lou Hood. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Melba preceded him in death on July 13, 2017, yet their love story continues to inspire all who knew them. Glendean's career at Reedrill Inc, which later became part of Caterpillar, spanned several decades. As a skilled painter, he was known for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication. He was a man of many talents, often likened to "MacGyver" for his uncanny ability to fix anything with barbed wire and duct tape. An avid outdoorsman, Glendean found joy in nature's splendor, whether fishing, riding his 4-wheeler, camping, deer hunting in the mountains, or playing his guitar. He was a passionate storyteller, weaving tales of his childhood and adventures with humor and charm, leaving his audience captivated and smiling. Glendean was a devoted member of Roberta Baptist Church and had previously served as a Deacon and song leader at Community Baptist Church in Achille, Oklahoma. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. Glendean is survived by his loving daughters, Glendeana Renee Potts and wife Jennifer, and Misty Michelle Crabtree and husband Charlie, sister Susie Busbey and husband Billy, and brother Joye Potts. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren, Josh, Sean Kaleb, Tanner, Hunter, Maranda, Brittani, Jacob, and Jeannie, as well as 14 great-grandchildren. His family also includes numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Tony Potts, his sister Jan Chandler, his wife Melba, and his daughter Deanna Dawn Potts. Glendean's passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the stories and memories he shared. A celebration of Glendean's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Garden Of Memory Cemetery, N3655 Road (off of W Snider) in Colbert, Oklahoma. Floyd Glendean will be remembered as a loving father, a devoted grandfather, a cherished brother and uncle, and a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. His laughter, kindness, and stories will echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
