It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Florencio "Lencho" Verdugo, who peacefully departed this world on February 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his cherished family. Born on February 23, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, Lencho was the eldest son of Miguel F. Verdugo and Adela Vasquez. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his brothers Miguel "Mike" and Ruben, and his sister Gloria. Lencho's remarkable journey was marked by dedication and service, beginning with his commitment to the United States Marine Corps, which he joined on January 13, 1967. He served his country with honor through three tours in Vietnam, a testament to his unwavering courage and patriotism. Upon returning stateside, he continued to impart his wisdom and discipline as a valued drill instructor and reservist until April 3, 1973. In matters of the heart, Lencho was profoundly blessed. On April 14, 1978, he married the love of his life, Bobbie Diane Boone. Their union of nearly 48 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership, creating a legacy through their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will live on through the ages. Lencho was a successful entrepreneur, founding and operating Verdugo Roofing Company in Long Beach, California, before relocating to Ridgedale, Missouri, where he established Hydroseal Roofing. His love for working outdoors was evident in every project he undertook, often inviting those around him to share in the simple joys of discovery with his enthusiastic exclamations: "Hey, did you see that?" or "Let's go look at that." A man of deep faith, Lencho's spiritual journey was ignited by the First Baptist Long Beach Bus Ministries. His dedication to the church was unwavering, serving as a beloved youth pastor, junior church pastor, adult Sunday school teacher, and evangelist. His commitment to spreading the gospel was a personal mission, inspired by Acts 1:8, and he embraced every opportunity to share his faith, from door-knocking ministries to teaching courses on giving the gospel. Family was the cornerstone of Lencho's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bobbie, and their children: Vanessa and Jose Torres, with grandchildren Savannah and Cody (and great-grandchildren Everett and Warren Farrell), Brooklyn, Boston, and Charlotte; Elena and Michael Hernandez, with grandchildren Van and Paige (and great-grandchild Valerie Hernandez), Stephen (and great-grandchild Nina Hernandez), Mark, Sabina, and Michael; Arianna Verdugo and Gary, with grandchildren Kirsti, Kelan, Alex, and Atticus; Kimberly and Jeremiah Simkins, with grandchildren Elizabeth, Jonathan, Andrew, Preston, and Penelope; Jeffrey and Becky Steiner, with grandchildren Koston and Audrey; and Michael and Samara Verdugo, with grandchildren Stevie, Pepper, Betty, Opal, and Marigold. Lencho's passions extended beyond work and faith; he was an avid sports enthusiast and found immense joy in camping and spending quality time outdoors with his family. His love for adventure and exploration created countless cherished memories, strengthening the bond that held his family together. A memorial service will be held April 25th 2026, at 2pm at Red Oak Baptist Church 1615 US-62, Harrison, AR 72601 to honor and celebrate Lencho's life, allowing his family and loved ones to reflect on the impact he made and the love he shared so generously. Florencio "Lencho" Verdugo's legacy is one of love, service, and faith. He leaves behind a family deeply enriched by his presence and a community grateful for his contributions. Though he is no longer with us, the light he brought into our lives will continue to shine brightly, guiding us in our own journeys with the same compassion, courage, and conviction that defined his extraordinary life.
