Florence (Polly) Hendricks

Florence "Polly" Hendricks, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and friend, peacefully passed away on July 30, 2026. Born on April 14, 1932, in Seattle, Washington, Polly's life was a vibrant tapestry of compassion, creativity, and dedication. Polly married Charles "Chuck" Hendricks, on July 16, 1955 and together they embarked on a journey that took them across the world thanks to Chuck's service in the U.S. Army. Polly embraced this life with enthusiasm, immersing herself in various auxiliaries and community activities wherever they were stationed. A dedicated homemaker, Polly poured her heart into raising her children: Denis (wife Jeanne), Penny, Terry, Shawn, Martin (wife Chie) and Roy (wife Marie). Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of her grandchildren: Rusty Gibbs, Christi Gibbs, Melisa Hendricks, Nichole Baugh, Brandon Hendricks, Elizabeth Schumacher, Melody Hendricks, Yu-Jin Matsuda-Hendricks and Mia Matsuda-Hendricks and her many nieces and nephews, and many other family members. Her legacy also flourishes through her 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, who carry forward her love and values. Polly was an accomplished artist, known for her skill in oil, acrylic, pastel, and watercolor painting as well as many other media. Her art garnered numerous awards and recognition, a testament to her talent and passion. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Polly was a devout Catholic, teaching CCD and volunteering tirelessly for her church. Her involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as Regent of the Sierra Vista Chapter, was a source of pride and fulfillment. Polly's community knew her as a woman whose brilliant smile, her sparkling blue eyes and her genuine warmth endeared her to all she met. Polly was predeceased by her husband, Chuck, her youngest son, Roy, her siblings, Helen, Art and Jim, her granddaughter, Cassaundra, and by other family members. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, cherished by her surviving family and friends. A funeral will be held for Polly on October 9, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, located at 1425 E Yaqui St, Sierra Vista, AZ. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Polly to join in honoring her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Polly's memory to the Alzheimer's Research Association, supporting a cause close to her heart. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at The Villas at Marana, AZ, for their kind and loving care of Polly. Tere, Robert, Joey, and everyone else, your dedication and compassion have been a blessing. Polly Hendricks will be remembered as a beacon of love and creativity, whose legacy will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of all who knew her.
