Fitiatua M. Taamu

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Fitiatua M. Taamu on July 10, 2026. Born on July 23, 1931, in the serene village of Ofu, Manua, American Samoa, Fitiatua was a beacon of love and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She transitioned to eternal rest at home, surrounded by her beloved family and cherished friends. Fitiatua was the treasured daughter of Filiali'i and Vaisamoa Taamu, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in eternal peace are her three sons and two daughters, whose memories she held dear. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving daughters, Joann and Theresa, as well as a legacy of 20 grandchildren, including Mou P, Hawaii P, Victoria P, and Siota P, among others, and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to her life. Fitiatua dedicated two decades to nurturing young minds as a teacher, before sharing her culinary talents in the family bakery in American Samoa, where her devotion to family and community was evident in every pastry. Her compassion extended to her role as a tutor for disabled children at Dunlap Elementary, where her kindness and patience touched many lives. A pillar of her faith community, Fitiatua served as a youth pastor, choir director, and piano teacher, sharing her love for music and God with all. Her hobbies mirrored her vibrant personality. Fitiatua found joy in arts and crafts, sewing, baking, and playing cards. Known as the life of the party, her radiant smile could illuminate any room, and her generosity was boundless. She possessed an incredible ability to love everyone she met, making each person feel uniquely special. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Fitiatua's remarkable life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the First Samoan Congressional Church for their unwavering love and support, and to the family and friends who traveled from near and far to partake in this celebration of a life well-lived. Your presence and assistance have been invaluable, and we thank you all from the depths of our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests considering donations to a charity of your choice in Fitiatua's memory, as a testament to her generous spirit. Fitiatua M. Taamu will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
