October 27, 1929 — March 18, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Fiorella Kelley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on March 18, 2026. Fiorella was born on October 27, 1929, in the eternal city of Rome, Italy, to Assunta and Federico Tosti. Her life was a tapestry of rich experiences, deep-rooted values, and an enduring love for her family and community. Fiorella moved to the United States as a young woman, where she met the love of her life, Samuel Kelley. Their marriage, a partnership of unwavering devotion and mutual respect, spanned an impressive 66 years. Together, they built a warm and loving home, becoming the proud parents of three children: Yolanda Kelley-Cannick (Deveraux), Sabina Kelley Awoonor Temner (Tunji), and Paul Kelley (Angela). Fiorella's legacy continues through her five cherished grandchildren: Damien, Janine, and Cecilia Cannick, and Adrian and Nicole Awoonor Renner, who she adored beyond measure. A woman of formidable intellect and insatiable curiosity, Fiorella pursued higher education at Queens College of The City University of New York, where she earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Italian Literature. Her passion for her native language and culture was evident in her professional journey. Fiorella held the prestigious position of Vice President of Radio and Television at RAI Italian Radio for 20 years, where she made significant contributions to promoting Italian arts and culture. Later, she shared her profound knowledge as an Adjunct Professor of Italian Literature and applied her analytical skills in accounting at Pirelli Tires. Fiorella was a pillar of her community, serving as the president of the Oakwood Heights Neighborhood Association for many years. Her leadership and dedication were also felt in her active participation with the Mt. Vernon Democratic Party, where she advocated for positive change and unity. Beyond her professional and community endeavors, Fiorella found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She possessed a green thumb and could often be found nurturing her beloved garden, a sanctuary of beauty and tranquility. An exceptional cook, her kitchen was a place where family and friends gathered, drawn by the aroma of her delicious meals. Fiorella also delighted in knitting and crocheting, crafting countless treasures for her grandchildren, each stitch imbued with love. Fiorella is predeceased by her parents and her dear older brother, Giorgio Tosti. She is survived by her devoted sister, Adrianna Altieri, and her nephews, Marco and Federico Altieri, and Federico Tosti, who will forever cherish her memory. A service to honor Fiorella's remarkable life and legacy will be held on March 27, 2026. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join them in celebrating the life of a woman who touched so many with her kindness, intelligence, and grace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Fiorella's name, as a tribute to her generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to making the world a better place. Fiorella Kelley leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, and her memory will forever be a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
