It is with profound sadness and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Felton Carl Clifton, who departed this world peacefully at home on May 17, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on May 10, 1959, in Oakland, California, Felton was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Felton was the devoted son of the late Felton Sr. and Essie Delores Smith, who instilled in him the values of love and kindness that he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his father, mother, grandmother Arrie Bell Thompson, aunt Elsie Mae Eldridge, sisters Patricia Ann Warne and Gwendolyn Denise Smith, and nephew Carl. Their memories were forever cherished in his heart.
Felton's journey in life was marked by a deep commitment to family and community. A proud alumnus of Castlemont High School, he went on to become an integral member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was known for his unwavering faith and dedication. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through times of joy and sorrow.
Felton is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Clifton, who was his steadfast partner and confidante. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around love and family. He leaves behind his beloved daughter NUK, and two sons, Mister and Pooda, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy extends to his cherished grandchildren: Heaven, Huey, and Harlem, who brought immeasurable joy to his days.
Felton's life was enriched by the love and support of his brother, Luther Smith, Jr, and his four sisters, Jeannie, Victoria, Rev Robin, and Pam. He was adored by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including a special bond with Yolanda. Each of these relationships was a testament to his generous spirit and the love he shared so freely.
A service to celebrate Felton's life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel, located at 2626 High Street, Oakland, CA. We invite all who knew and loved Felton to join us in honoring his memory and the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
