Faye Nadine

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Faye Nadine (Brookhart)Cousins, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother and cherished friend, who departed this world on July 10, 2026. Born on October 5, 1930, in Wyconda, Missouri, Nadine was the daughter of Ogle and Lillian (Kelley) Brookhart. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Nadine spent her formative years in Wyconda, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her parents and siblings. She married the love of her life, Richard Carl Cousins, on December 5, 1947, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Together, they shared 57 wonderful years filled with adventures, laughter, and unforgettable memories until Richard's passing. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep affection and shared values. Throughout her life, Faye dedicated herself to various careers, beginning with her work at the Mt Pleasant Mental Institution in Iowa from 1957 to 1959. She later owned and operated Cousins Cafe in New London, Iowa, from 1960 to 1965, and worked at the Glove Factory in New London, as well as Sylvania in Burlington, Iowa. Nadine’s career later took her to Dover, NH, where she managed apartment complexes and Park Village West in Westboro, MA, from 1974 to 1984. Her journey continued with Viking Construction until 1994, before she and her husband settled in Shell Knob, MO. There, she found great joy working at The Timbers Resort & Lodge from 1996 until her retirement in 2007. Nadine was a vibrant member of her community, actively participating in the Viola Baptist Church, where she played the organ and Q cord, and brought music to the residents of the local Nursing Home in Berryville, Arkansas. Her devotion extended to the Central Crossing Woman’s Club, the Senior Center, and the VFW. Her love for music, especially old country, bluegrass, and gospel, was matched only by her passion for crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her artistry and care. Known for her love of lilacs, lilies, and roses, Nadine's favorite colors were purple and green—a reflection of her vibrant spirit. Her family and friends remember her as a woman with a heart full of love, a captivating smile, and an unwavering faith in God. She was the epitome of a nurturing mother and adored her daughter grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Everyone that knew her called her Ma. Nadine is survived by her devoted daughter, Carolyn Christine (Cousins) Thurston, her daughter in law Debra Cousins. Her best friend Don Greek. Eight grandchildren, Larry Joe Van Trump, Heather Cousins, Brandy Angel, Amy Christine Cousins, Jennifer Lee Cousins, Carl Allen Cousins, Danielle Lee Marique and her partner Andy, Julie Lynn Drouin and her husband Bill (every-time she seen Bill she would say, I just love that boy!) and have to mention Nick Marique she thought the the world of. 12 great-grandchildren. Patricia, Zakary Van Trump, Cody Cousins and partner Brooke,Justin Morgan, Zandyr Angel, Natalie Angel, Addison Faye Perkins, Lillian Faye Marique, Kaylinn Marie Marique, Emilie Ann Marique, Colton David Drouin (these two had a bond that could never be broken. Two peas in a pod!), Lucy Cousins. 5 Great Great grandchildren Aiden Van Trump, twins Evelyn & Vivyan. Cayden and Kohen Cousins. She joins in eternal rest her husband Richard Carl Cousins, her children Rita Joann Rudd, Richard Lee Cousins, and Lloyd Allen Cousins, and her siblings Forrest Jack, Billy Lee, Dennis Ogle Brookhart, Vernon Lockhard, and Ann (Lockhard) Simpson. A service to celebrate Faye's remarkable life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Sandown Parks and Recreation 25 Pheasant Run Drive Sandown, New Hampshire. Faye Nadine's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and resilience, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched.
