Fatuma Abwe Anzuruni

January 1, 1968 — June 4, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Fatuma Abwe Anzuruni, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Fatuma left this world peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 58, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love and support of her family, during her stay at the Almance Emergency Hospital, where she sought treatment for the past five months. Born on January 1, 1968, in the scenic town of Baraka, DRC, Fatuma was the cherished daughter of Anzuruni Kiza and Mawazo Anzuruni. From a young age, Fatuma embraced the values of hard work, resilience, and compassion, which she carried throughout her life and work as a dedicated farmer. Her hands nurtured the earth and her spirit nurtured those around her. Fatuma's commitment to her community and family was evident in every seed she planted and every meal she shared. Fatuma's legacy is reflected in the lives of her family: her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her strength, wisdom, and love. Her family was her greatest joy, and she relished every moment spent with them, imparting lessons of kindness, humility, and grace. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in a celebration of Fatuma's life at the Free Methodist Church, located at 4039 Markwood Rd, Burlington, NC 27215. The service will provide an opportunity to reflect on the warmth and generosity that Fatuma shared with the world and to honor the indelible mark she left on all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Anzuruni family, ensuring that Fatuma's legacy of giving and community support continues to thrive. The family offers a special message, inspired by her unwavering faith: "Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." (Job 1:21 KJV). This scripture encapsulates Fatuma's profound belief in the divine cycle of life and the eternal peace she has now found. Fatuma Abwe Anzuruni will be remembered for her boundless love, her nurturing spirit, and her unyielding faith. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire all who were privileged to know her.
