Clarence Jackson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Clarence "Father" Jackson II, who departed this life on December 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 21, 1947, in Aiken, South Carolina, Clarence was the cherished son of the late Clarence Jackson Sr. and Rosa Slaughter. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and unwavering kindness.
Clarence was a proud alumnus of Lucy C. Laney High School, graduating in 1965. His educational journey began at Central Elementary School in North Augusta, South Carolina, and continued at Collins Elementary School in Augusta, Georgia. He also attended A.R. Johnson for his middle school years, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with learning and growth.
In the fall of 1972, Clarence married the love of his life, Martha Ann Johnson, in New York. Together, they wove a tapestry of love and joy, raising two wonderful children, Travis and Nicole. Their marriage was a partnership marked by laughter and shared dreams, lasting 23 beautiful years until Martha's passing.
Clarence dedicated over 35 years to the United States Postal Service, where he was celebrated with awards for his outstanding federal services. His career began with a two-year tenure at the VA hospital, showcasing his commitment to service and excellence. After a fulfilling career, he retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and integrity.
A man of faith, Clarence was an active member of Saint Paul Community Baptist Church in East New York and frequently attended Good Shepherd Deliverance. His spiritual journey was marked by a deep belief in community and service, always seeking to uplift those around him.
Clarence was a man of many passions. He had a particular fondness for black-and-white movies, cowboy shows, and science fiction, and was a devoted sports enthusiast, with baseball holding a special place in his heart—a sport he enjoyed playing in his youth. His love for music and cooking was only rivaled by his reputation as a snappy dresser, always presenting himself with style and grace.
Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Clarence had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. His sense of humor and generosity left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life was a shining example of kindness, touching countless lives with his compassion and warmth.
Clarence is survived by his cherished children, Travis and Nicole, and his adored grandchildren, Nailah, Nakayla, Christon, and Nia. He leaves behind his loving siblings, William and Bernad Jackson, and his dear sister-in-law, Hester Jackson. His cousins, William (Willie), Curtis, and Mary Slaughter, along with a vast extended family, will miss him dearly.
A service to celebrate Clarence's life will be held on March 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Lisa S. Dozier Funeral Service Inc., located at 2200 Clarendon Road, Brooklyn, NY 11226. As we gather to honor his memory, we hold onto the special message from his family: "Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Clarence Jackson II will never be forgotten."
